This is the first of a series of posts dedicated to Portuguese startups that are going to be present at the Web Summit next November in Dublin. To kick off, I talked with Alexia Pereira, Founder, Art Director & Web Designer of Look Ouch, a startup aiming to bring artists together.
What is Look Ouch and how did the idea come about?
Look Ouch is a social media platform who helps art students with few resources find the right people for art projects in order to make ideas happen through collaborations.
Look Ouch was founded in 2012 by a group of young people actively looking for collaborations with creatives and artists, in order to conclude their final school projects. After suddenly realizing the lack of resources, either online or offline, and to help them find the right people that’d allow them to realize their ideas and projects, they decided to create the Look Ouch platform, an artist community that stands as a meeting point between artists and projects with few resources online.
In what new ways will artists be able to collaborate?
Look Ouch will allow young creatives and artists to:
- SEARCH & FIND portfolios and invitations for art students projects.
- APPLY OR INVITE to participate in projects or apply to collaborate on their ideas
- MEET, SELECT AND DISCUSS how great could turn out your collaboration. They will then be able to select or be selected for an art project!
The Ouch Movement behind the Look Ouch platform believes that young creatives have the strength to gather in one single place to unite and turn their collaborations and ideas much stronger.
No more worries about the “barriers”, no more wondering about where to find that budget, when there are tons of people ready to collaborate for free to grab the opportunity to participate in interesting projects.
What do you expect from your presence at the Web Summit? Any special plans?
Our presence at the Web Summit is especially to get attention from professionals of the area. We expect to get more and more feedback to improve the platform as much as we can. Making contacts and create connections is our first target.
Are there some other players in your market you expect to meet there?
I’ve been attending Tech Events since last year and what interests me the most is all those tiny but big tips and secrets delivered by the great and big professionals I have had the honor to meet, who somewhat make a significant difference in all the areas involved in a startup. I can’t tell you exactly the players I am interested to meet, I like to keep it personal and urge as natural encounters.
