Today I talked with Sérgio Sequeira, Managing Partner of BestTables, an online restaurant booking system present both in Portugal and Brazil. They will be at the Web Summit, and told us a little more about themselves.
What is BestTables and how did the idea come about?
BestTables is an online booking service for restaurants. Restaurants online booking business existed already in other countries when it was launched by BestTables in Portugal in 2011. Nevertheless BestTables is innovative in several ways: for example, BestTables has a 100% web app for restaurants that runs on several devices that include features of CRM, room management, reservation management and waiting queue management.
What kind of success have you been seeing?
BestTables has more than 1000 restaurants in Brazil and Portugal. We are growing the number of restaurants in both countries at a fast pace and we estimate to double this number at mid-2015. We are leaders and we reached breakeven in Portugal and we estimate to be leaders in the Brazilian market by end of 2015. We will launch BestTables soon in another country in Europe.
Tell us about your expectations for the upcoming Web Summit.
Our main expectations are to find investors that share the same vision of this business and want to share the risk with us, helping us to continue to grow at a fast pace and make BestTables one of the largest companies in the world for online booking of restaurants.
Are there other players in your market you look forward to meeting there?
We are willing to share views and experiences with other companies that are in the same business that we are.
What other startup is on your radar and why?
We are mainly focused in our own business.
