Epiclist is an app providing a way for people to share their travel activities and adventures. I talked with Olga Reimgen, their co founder and COO.
What is Epiclist and how did the idea come about?
Epiclist is a mobile app to capture your travels and adventures on the move. It´s built around simplicity and visual appeal, aiming to make travel and discovery simple, beautiful and inspiring again, how travel itself is supposed to be. Both for users and suppliers.
Stan, my co-founder and I have always been passionate about travel, adventure and exploring! Whenever we have time, we grab our backpacks and go to the mountains, take a road trip to the beach or plan the next trip. And as we have always been looking for new ideas and activities, we keep having struggles finding unique things to do. This problem is faced by everyone and in the rising jungle of information it became harder than ever, browsing through tons of web pages, asking friends for help or reading blogs to find interesting pieces of information. So we had an idea. Why not create a simple way for people to share their activities and adventures, helping others discover those and get inspired to do them as well. So at the core, Epiclist lets everyone create their own “Lonely Planet” guidebook, to capture all of their activities and travel experiences in one place and share it with other people around the world.
The best part: It’s free, its super simple and its beautifully designed! Discover it yourself and let us know what you think!
In what ways can people connect using the app?
People share their discoveries with the community and you can “Pulse” them up (thanking them for sharing and inspiring them to be more active), ask questions or leave your suggestions or add their steps to your own journeys. If you add steps from other users, they will get a notification about them helping others to get active, saying: “Andrew, you have just inspired Dany to Dive in the Crystal Bay”. And same things happens then people add steps from your journeys. So you know exactly, that your discoveries are helping others to have better adventures. And of course, you´ll be rewarded with some sweet earned Pulse for inspiring others. That also means, that if you share your plans for your journeys, other people and your friends can follow you and leave their suggestions. So next time you meet and ask your friends for suggestions, you can just open Epiclist and add this tips as steps to your journey, and other travelers might share their opinion on your plans. As because Epiclist is mobile, you can take all your plans anywhere with you.
Are there plans to launch the app in further countries, namely in Portugal?
Since our app is using English as the main language, we launched in all English-speaking countries first and will continue slowly to include countries with English as a well spoken second language.
What is your epic dream?
Go to the app and check out my planned journeys 😉 But one place I really want to visit is Greenland and doing the Laugavegur hiking trail in Iceland.
What other startup is on your radar and why?
