Yesterday, Facebook announced their quarterly earnings and gave an update on their community’s progress.
1.49 billion people access Facebook monthly. That number is impressive, to say the least. You can check out the image below, where you can see that Whatsapp reaches 800 million people and Instagram 300 million users each month.
CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg noted about the Facebook reach: “In 1876, the year the first telephone call was made, around 1.49 billion people were alive”. As many as use FB today.
I believe FB is here to stay for a big while. All that talk about millennials leaving was a bit overrated, as studies prove. What happens is they also use tools like Snapchat for other kinds of sharing, but Facebook is also a preferred platform.
I’m excited to see how the Facebook ecosystem evolves, at a time that things keep changing at a rapid pace. We must all keep our eyes open and adapt as needed.
