10% Happier, by Dan Harris

September 18, 2014 by Pedro Mendes Leave a Comment

350_10-PercentI’ve been more and more interested in meditation. Yes, meditation. Please don’t click away just now, if you think I’m going to talk about wearing robes, sandals and long hair, and going around chanting on the streets. Meditation has had a “bad” reputation, and has been seen as only for eccentrics. It couldn’t be further from the truth.

Dan Harris is a well-known American journalist who discovered the power of meditation and being more aware.

In “10% happier” he leads us through his doubts, struggles, and misconceptions along the way. He very candidly tells us about his journey, from skeptic to “convert”.

He debunks many myths related to this practice, with engaging stories and, at times, great humor.

As for myself, I’ve been meditating more regularly lately, and find I am more relaxed, open to new things and with a new attitude towards the world at large. I am barely starting but, if it makes me 10% happier, it’s a resounding win. Give it a try.
